TMI - Landowners slam MRT Co, say no U-turn on demands

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — Jalan Sultan and Bukit Bintang landowners have accused MRT Co of falsely claiming most had agreed to vacate premises during construction of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) in exchange for surface rights.
The Committee for Preserving Jalan Sultan and Jalan Bukit Bintang said many landowners reject the project owner’s terms, and slammed MRT Co chief executive Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid for making a “false and misleading” statement to the contrary.

“The committee condemns Datuk Azhar for making false and misleading statement to media as only a small number of landowners agreed over the land acquisition but not the majority.

“The minority landowners’ view should not reflect the majority’s stand,” committee chairman Yong Yew Wei said in a statement.
