FMT - Umno takut berdepan gelombang kebangkitan mahasiswa

TMI - Muhyiddin says no one sidelined under BN
KAJANG, Dec 26 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin denied today the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had sidelined any group, after the Church and Malay rights group Perkasa clashed over whether Article 153 of the Constitution safeguarded the rights of all communities.
The deputy prime minister told thousands at the government’s Christmas open house here that the Najib administration “does not look at your background, religion or race” in formulating policy.
“No one is sidelined. All enjoy efforts to develop the nation,” the Umno deputy president said.
National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) chairman Reverend Dr Eu Hong Seng said on Saturday Article 153 is akin to “bullying” if it only protects the rights of one group.
But Perkasa responded by saying the Article helped keep the country peaceful, further claiming that the race riots of May 13, 1969 happened because it was not implemented properly.
“This country is peaceful because of Article 153 which protects the rights of Bumiputeras who are the majority in this country.
“The reverend needs to remember that Christians are able to practise their religion without worry in this country because of Article 153,” Perkasa secretary-general Syed Hasan Syed Ali said.

FMT - The tragedy that is Umno
Umno is full of Malays who are afraid to say “No”. “No” to corruption. “No” to power abuse. “No” to seeking as well as giving patronage.
Perhaps one can add, “No” to Mahathir, “No” to Najib.
Umno has been in power for over 54 years. Not all Malays wish to be in Umno, but Umno does need all of the Malays for it to be a potent force. Today, Umno refuses to accept that Malays are abandoning Umno.
Around the time of independence, Umno may have had people of quality within its ranks. Today, it is alleged that loyalty is determined by money. Is that what Umno think the Malays are proud of? That their allegiance is easily bought? Umno strips Malays of self-worth and self-respect.
Instead of using intelligent discourse and logic to dissect any issue, Umno uses sexual allegations or character assassinations, to blacken the reputation of members of the opposition. Opposition leaders had their characters or their children’s character tarnished with untrue allegations in pro-Umno blogs.
Gutter politics are prevalent in Umno and was witnessed during the last Umno general assembly. Name calling and snide insinuations seemed to be the order of the day. These men and women, who are supposed to be leaders and pillars of Malay society, are a disgrace to themselves and the nation.
In Umno, men who were guilty of sexual acts, against their hired help or against minors, talk about the sexual behaviour of other people, as if they led blameless lives. Those who are guilty of money politics tried to distract attention by calling on opposition members to resign. What happened to accountability and responsibility?
These men and women, talk about religion as if they were themselves, free of sin. These same people use any opportunity to say that the failure of the Malays is because of the dominance of the non-Malays.
In education, for instance, the Malays are given the best chances for obtaining a higher education. Things are made deliberately easy for them. The undesirable side-effect is that they and their children grow up lacking aspiration and ambition.
Malays who wanted to improve themselves by learning English are now considered traitors. Many Malays who study overseas have a poor grasp of English. Many who were not allowed to mix with other races at home, found great difficulty adapting to life with non-Malays.
Is this what Umno leaders want of the Malay? For them to be cocooned and their minds closed to what is happening in the global arena?

FMT - Najib, Father of ‘Spin’
At long last, the 1Malaysia slogan has been revealed for what it truly is: the greatest failure of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
What for so long has been bandied about as the keyword for racial harmony and unity has been debunked as a 100 percent failure at the recent Umno general assembly and the one who debunked this mythic 1Malaysia slogan is none other than Najib himself.
Poetic justice, you might say.
Thus, the prime minister has proven himself to be the greatest spinner of yarns and tall tales beyond comparison and 1Malaysia is his greatest masterpiece, so to speak, as he has proclaimed that 1Malaysia is his brainchild. It beats out GTP, ETP, NKRA, NKEA and what not.
The sixth Malaysian prime minister will thus go down in history as the master of spin, sloganeering and story-telling. Incredible credentials, indeed, if one were a movie director or producer for sure. But as a prime minister? Naah! Najib’s move of pandering to the demands of the ultra-Malays in order to gain support of the Malays is a crass and lowdown tactic unbecoming of someone who aspires to be a great statesman.
What will other world leaders think? It is time for Najib to wake up to the fact that his words and deeds are watched not only by Malaysians here but also by other world leaders and Malaysians overseas. Still, he has reached the point of no-return and his “movement of moderates” talk is all hype, hot air and hoo-ha over nothing.
As we approach the finishing line towards the dissolution of Parliament, Najib seems desperate to build up what he considers as enough solid support before calling for the 13th general election. And by solid support, he is thinking of the Malay vote.
His desperation shows through clearly as he comes across as a muddled flip-flopper lacking in direction of whether to adopt a policy encompassing all races or only a Malay-only policy.
His party, Umno, is also rudderless and clueless on how to steer the Malaysian economy through unchartered stormy seas next year when the global economic crisis truly hits our shores and we have been forewarned.
Instead, Najib and Barisan Nasional leaders are deluding themselves that the Malaysian economy is all fine and hunky-dory.
The Umno general assembly has deteriorated into a barbaric sword and shield-clanging feast as each Umno leader vowed death and destruction to their perceived enemy forces. Nothing on economic or administrative policies for the good of the nation was discussed.
Najib has totally lost it! Nothing can salvage 1Malaysia now. He has had his chance of implementing genuine political reforms but he blew it.
His stand now is to strictly obey the Umno warlords and the ultra-Malays. He has now transformed himself into becoming a barbarian warlord – truly a government transformation programme!

Desakan agar Shahrizat meletakkan jawatan semakin meningkat termasuk pendirian bekas perdana menteri Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad minggu lalu.
Paling sedih kata Syed Ali, Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak dan timbalannya, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin menjadi sasaran pembangkang dengan dilemparkan tuduhan kononnya melindungi keluarga Shahrizat.

FMT - Rosmah: Don’t fall for online news
She said that being in the educated group, they should not easily believe any “news” posted but should use their wisdom to evaluate its validity.
“Don’t listen to slanders… they have an opportutnity to study abroad and should utilise this opportunity and use their intelligence to evaluate any issue,” he told reporters after attending a closed-door session with members of the Overseas Umno Club, here, today.
Rosmah said these students should also use the knowledge obtained abroad to help the government implement all programmes drawn up, especially in the field of education.
“I advise these students to study diligently, bring back whatever is good to assist the Malaysian government and to leave behind what is bad,” she said.
Commenting on the closed-door meeting, she said it was held to meet the request of the students who wished to know about various issues including the “Program Permata Negara” under her patronage.
The meeting was attended by 65 delegates from five Overseas Umno liaison bodies, namely the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Australia-New Zealand, Egypt and Russia.

FMT - `Kuasa Allah tentukan segalanya’, kata Shahrizat

TMI - Reconsider resignation calls, Bung urges Shahrizat
The outspoken Kinabatangan MP even dismissed the apparent unanimous show of support for Shahrizat during the Wanita Umno general assembly on Wednesday, saying, “We do not know what kind of support that was”.
“Because no delegate has stated clearly what is that support — support for the party, yes, I know,” he pointed out when met at the sidelines of the Umno general assembly today.
When asked if he believes the issue has become a liability to Umno, Bung Mokhtar (picture) nodded.
“I believe, because I am a strong party man,” he said.
The Umno supreme council member said although Shahrizat had briefly explained the issue during the assembly, it was more important to take cognisance of public perception.
“This is not a question of explanation. I feel she has given her explanation already.
“This is not a question of who is wrong... it is a question of how the public accepts it,” he said.
Bung Mokhtar reasoned that in the face of coming elections, it was important that Umno not be weakened by scandals linked to any individual.
“So I have already stated my stand — I request that she reconsider (resigning)... because of one individual, the party gets involved,” he complained.

TMI - Umno can ‘overcome’ PKR and PAS but not DAP, says minister
Pasir Gudang MP Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin reasoned that this was why delegates had focused their attacks on DAP when speaking about Pakatan Rakyat (PR) throughout the Umno annual general assembly so far.
“Because they believe, and it has been some sort of perception, whether real or imaginary, that the dominant force (in the opposition) is not PKR — it is DAP.
“Therefore, Umno members have been focusing (on) and criticising DAP ... because Umno feels they can overcome the other Malay-based parties,” he told The Malaysian Insider when approached on the sidelines of the party’s AGM today.
The higher education minister was commenting on the direction of debates during the assembly so far and how delegates have been targeting DAP in their criticisms.
Attacks against the opposition party have served as a focal point for this year’s Umno assembly, with delegates accusing DAP leaders of marginalising Malays in PR states, and challenging the sanctity of Islam as the country’s “official religion”.
While some have dismissed renewed attacks against DAP as mere “Pakatan bashing,” some Umno leaders have insisted that DAP poses a “real threat” to Malays, and that a future with DAP in power would spell disaster for the community.
“The party (Umno) is a platform. Our main concern is the future of Malays and Islam.
“This goes beyond political differences between PAS and PKR. Malays have a right to be worried. The position of Malays and our religion has been challenged subliminally and one day before we realise it, it will be too late to do anything,” said Umno delegate Abdul Rahim Kamarudin.
Khaled agreed today, pointing to how DAP has made significant inroads in the Chinese community.
During the Sarawak state polls in April, DAP chalked up the biggest win among its PR partners, snapping up 12 out of the 15 seats it contested.

TMI - An undercurrent in Umno grows against Shahrizat over cattle scandal
But it is believed that the cheers from the standing ovation that greeted her were mixed with silent jeers of disgust from the senior minister’s detractors, many of whom are rallying for her resignation.
Speaking to The Malaysian Insider after the assembly, several senior Wanita leaders said Shahrizat (picture) had become a “liability” to Umno and should exit the limelight before the NFC scandal “destroys us all”.
But they said most delegates were “too afraid” to speak against their chief for fear of losing their posts in the party.
“She (Shahrizat) is using Wanita Umno to protect her but the issue (NFC) is not a Wanita (Umno) issue but a personal one involving her and her family.
“As a Wanita Umno member, I am very disappointed. A lot of us are disappointed... why drag Umno into this issue?” said one Wanita Umno delegate from Perak.
She added that she had remained seated when the sea of red-clad delegates rose to applaud Shahrizat during her winding-up speech.
She said Shahrizat should have explained the issue to delegates instead of fishing for support by claiming the scandal was merely a ploy by the opposition to weaken Wanita Umno.
“Do not forget, the first person to expose the issue about NFC’s weaknesses was the Auditor-General, not the opposition. So why attack the opposition to hide your own weakness?” she pointed out.

TMI - Under Pakatan, DAP will appoint non-Malay PM, claims Umno leader
But if the Chinese-dominated DAP fails in its bid, it would then resort to appointing a “puppet PM”, much like former Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, said Pasir Salak Umno division chief Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
“They tried it in Perak. So if for the post of MB (mentri besar) they are also very keen, why not the PM’s seat?
“I am sure that is what they want. So if they can’t they will compromise and put somebody to become their puppet, like Nizar,” he told The Malaysian Insider during a brief interview on the sidelines of the Umno annual general assembly yesterday.
Tajuddin explained that this would likely happen as under a PR government, the DAP would likely emerge as the most dominant party while its Islamist partner PAS would become a “nobody”.
“How many seats are PAS contesting? Less than 60. To form government, they would need seats from DAP and PKR. You know it is only natural — the dominant partner will be the one that holds the most seats,” he said.
Tajuddin’s conjecture is part of the scenario that most Umno members trot out when discussing a possible loss of power to PR in future general elections.
The outspoken parliamentarian also shredded PR’s capability as an alternative government to Barisan Nasional (BN), saying that due to its lack of experienced leaders the country’s economy would plummet and instability would ensue.
He issued a warning to the Chinese community in particular, saying their businesses and livelihoods would suffer the most under a PR government.

FMT - Aziz Bari dicabar letak jawatan, masuk politik

TMI - Mukhriz: Pakatan conspiring with foreigners to invoke ‘Malaysia Spring’
Calling the Opposition Leader “desperate”, the Umno deputy minister told his party’s annual general assembly here that “Anwar Ibrahim himself has flared the seeds of revolution ala Arab Spring” to topple the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration.
He said the opposition has been using street protests to conspire against BN and went a step further to allege that a death was even “faked” during the Bersih 2.0 July 9 march for free and fair elections.
“Actually, my honourable delegates, whether you realise it or not, the opposition is the new tool of the foreign powers.
“The opposition gets a lot of funding and lots more of other support to attain their objective of what they have coined as regime change. Question I am asking is, are we going to allow the new era of colonisation to happen here?” he thundered to the sea of delegates gathered for the assembly today.
Anwar had recently predicted the coming of a “Malaysia Spring” in the next general election, confidently telling US newswire Bloomberg in an interview that PR will wrest Putrajaya from BN.
